Twitter as News
This isn’t breaking news, by any means, but its something that’s become pretty prevalent these days and we’re finding more and more common as each day passes. Everyone’s on Twitter, and with the ability to literally post anything you like in a matter of seconds… even photos/videos, its no wonder people are looking here first for breaking news events. Even CNN has its own twitter feed, although the thought of a major news network attempting to utilize the 180 character one liner to break news seems a little awkward, but its proof that there’s some serious pull behind this thing. Well more recently, even Yahoo! jumped on the ship by including relevant “Tweets” as part of their search listing. Similar to the way Google tracks link backs, Yahoo! thought to utilize the power of Twitter to validate news searches. Pretty interesting concept and maybe one of the most realistic uses of a rapidly emerging technology.
More? Why, sure!
