New NIN iPhone App
Anyone who knows me knows I’ve been a die hard Nine Inch Nails fan since I was about 13 or so. Originally it was the music the brought me in, not the “Hey, I’m a teenager filled with angst and love hearing someone scream about angry things,” it was literally the ingenuity and musical craftsmanship, the exploring of new musical territory, so to speak. So I was hooked early on. Over the years each album continued to amaze in its own respect and I became more connected to the artist than to the music. Now, I’ll be the first to admit, the last few releases haven’t been as mind-blowing as the earlier stuff, from a musical perspective, but from an artistic standpoint, I am still blown away by all the innovative things Trent Reznor is doing with Nine Inch Nails. Whether its releasing music on a flash drive ‘mistakenly left in stall of a Portuguese bathroom,’, releasing footage from the most recent tour via torrent files, or just allowing your fans to download your music Trent Reznor is clearly on the cutting edge of what it means to be a musical artist in today’s ever changing world.
So with all that being said, what new territory is Mr. Reznor exploring? Well, the iPhone app, of course. He’s been tweeting about it all week, as it should be approved any day now, but as this little video on Wired.com today shows, this thing is pretty amazing. Not only does it bring the whole NIN.com social community to a mobile environment, but it brings music downloads, local messaging and so much more. Literally breaking down the walls between the artist, the fans and the community at large. Taking this world of new media and pushing it forward. Really exciting stuff and worth keeping your eye on, even if you’re not a fan of the music, because he’s clearly doing everything right.

I had no idea you were such a big NIN fan, this excites me!! Ive been hooked up with quite the project since graduating from “touring for the RIAA academy” last year and think you’ll take an interest and direct understanding to what we are doing.
